SOCKTOBER 2024!
Socktober is right around the corner!
This year is our forth year celebrating socktober by collecting and distributing socks to organizations and mutual aid groups in and around Calgary. With your help, we've been able to distribute over 3000 pairs of socks over the last 3 years!
This year, we're doing it again AND we've challenged Little Red Mitten and Yarns Untangled to a friendly competition! Which yarn store can collect the most socks?
Want to help us win? Want to win this ah-mazing prize pack?!
Bring your sock donations* to STASH From October 1 to 31, and for every pair you drop off, we'll give you one entry into the draw to win this
STASH-tastic gift basket valued at almost $400!
*Handmade socks are amazing, but in this case commercially made socks are the way to go! We want no-fuss washing and a variety of mens, womens, and kids sizes. Grab a pack while you grab your groceries - every pair in a pack is an entry!
Drop off socks at Fibre Shindig!
STASHy peep Ashley will be at Fibre Shindig on October 19 from 11am to 1pm - if you're attending the festival you can bring any donations to Shindig during that time. And while you're at it, The Fibre Shindig is collecting hygiene donations again! Bring new boxes of sanitary pads, tampons, and other toiletries to donate. See the full list on their website.
With Socktober comes Socktoberfest!
Join us for a night of crafting at Cabin Brewing Company on Tuesday, October 22. Tickets are $20 and include one yummy drink of your choice. Remaining proceeds will be donated to The Centre for Newcomers. Get your socktoberfest tickets!
Why socks?
Socks are one of the most in demand items at shelters and other support organizations.
Clean, dry socks are essential to help prevent frostbite in the cold Canadian winter.
Where will the socks be donated?
In previous years, we've distributed socks to many organizations including the Calgary Drop In Centre, The Alex, The Women's Centre, Good Neighbour, and the Centre for Newcomers. We always check with the organizations before delivering the socks to make sure they need them, so we haven't confirmed which groups will take this years donations. If you work for a non-profit or mutual aid group that could use them, please shoot us an email and we'd love to add you to the list of recipients!
