WE GATHER Shibori Dyeing Kit
Shibori is the Japanese technique of indigo dyeing that uses stitching, gathering, and binding sections of cloth. This DIY kit is a great introduction to this traditional art form. While it doesn't use the traditional indigo dye, this is a great opportunity to practice the technique.
You will need a natural cellulose fibre fabric for this dye - cotton, linen, hemp, rayon, bamboo, ramie, or silk.
Kit Includes:
- Dye poweder
- Salt
- Soda ash
- Textile detergent
- 2 sets of wooden resist shapes
- Rubberbands
- Clothespins
- Vinyl gloves
- Stir sticks
- Instructions
You'll Need:
- Your chosen fabric
- A 3-5 gallon bucket or bin
- A smaller bucket or bowl
- Long-handled stirring stick or spoon
- 2 clean, empty jars
- Water
