In this learning environment you will review how to cross stitch, how to plan your project, switch colours, and tips for finishing techniques. Rent a cricket loom at STASHCricket Loom Class
$100 plus tax, all supplies included

We have revamped our Cricket class so now it is even MORE fun (we didn’t think it was possible but we rose to the challenge!) and comprehensive. In two classes you will learn how to warp a Cricket loom, weave, troubleshoot, remove a project from a loom, plan a project, and read a basic pattern – all while making a Stash Plaid Scarf. All peeps will work on individual looms and are able to bring the loom home in between sessions to noodle around! No previous experience is necessary and there is a $20 discount on the class if peeps bring their own Cricket loom.

Cricket Club
$30 plus tax, peeps must work with yarn purchased at STASH. Peeps bring own cricket loom.

Do you have a cricket loom and are looking for a posse to join? You are in luck because the Cricket Club meets monthly to work on projects together and celebrate this awesome powerhouse of a rigid heddle. STASH instructor Megan will be on hand to assist with technical questions and provide general inspiration for cricketers. Participants must bring their own loom, know the basics of how to use it, and have it warped and ready to go (we cannot warp looms during cricket club).

In this learning environment you will get to try out three sweet new techniques – clasped weft, weft floats, & warp floats – that go beyond plain weave. Peeps MUST have taken the Cricket Loom Class at STASH or demonstrate a working knowledge of how to use a rigid heddle in order to take the class.

Macrame Wall Hanging

Modern yet bohemian, macrame has come a loooooong way from your gamma’s plant holders! In our new Macrame Wall Art class we use 100% white cotton rope and a crisp dowel to create pieces that are clean and lookin’ sharp when hanging against any wall in your home. In this learning environment you will create a piece using a variety of techniques. Best of all, no experience is necessary and all supplies are included!

Needle Felted Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs and toadstools are our inspiration for this introduction to needle felting class! Learn about tools, materials, and simple construction techniques while you craft your own wee creations. Be warned, needle felting involves stabbing fibre with a sharp object and the occasional finger poke may occur! No previous experience is required.

Punch Needle Basics

Learn the art of embroidery punch needle work in this single session class! You will learn about the tools, materials, and techniques used in this quick rug hooking technique while creating your own sampler. Solar Dyeing

What’s that cute jar on your windowsill in the sunshine? Oh, you, know, that’s my solar merino yarn solar dyeing with onion skins!  One of the easiest ways to dye your own yarn, solar dyeing is a fun way to dye single skeins with simple dyestuff and little to no equipment. In this learning environment we will guide you through the entire process from start to finish, and you get to take home your very own jar of yarn and dyestuff, ready to chill in a sunbeam. No previous experience necessary!

Get yer’ spin-on with this introduction to spinning on a modern wheel! Learn about wheel anatomy and tools of the trade, fibre types and prep, operating a spinning wheel, plying yarn, balancing yarn, and basic project planning. Spinning 102

Are you looking to expand your spinning skill set beyond the basics? In this learning environment you will get to try out different drafting and plying techniques – long draw, backward draft, spinning from the fold, 3 ply, chain plying, & cable plying – as well as discussing tips for spinning consistent yarns. Participants MUST have taken the Spinning 101 at STASH or demonstrate a working knowledge of how to spin in order to take the class. Peeps are welcome to use STASH’s Louet s17 during the class session, or you are welcome to bring your own wheel as long as you have working knowledge on how to use it (to be determined with a set of skill-testing questions, muhwahaha!).

Tapestry Weaving

Yarn Painting

Roll up your sleeves and discover the art of yarn painting with the talented Suzen Statz. Back by popular demand, this class will demo how to properly and safely prepare dyes, and then will be unleashed to dye your own dream yarns, with discussions about application techniques and colour theory as you go.  The class includes two skeins of yarn for dyeing, and no previous experience is necessary to participate.
