Big Hats

If that isn’t enough awesomeness for you, this two part-class also includes a tutorial on how to make pom poms the size of a grapefruit. Knit with Big Loop at STASH

Big Loop Blanket

It’s back! We are pleased to offer the class with the squishiest, biggest, and most luxurious yarn in the land – Big Loop by Loopy Mango from Soho, New York! In this class you will knit flat on circular needles and learn all the tricks to knitting with this yarn of epic proportion. We will also demo our tips on how to weave in those ends! As well as the needles and yarn every participant gets a felting needle for finishing. Participants must know how to cast on, knit, purl, basic ribbing, and cast off at a very beginner level.

Bold Brioche

Awww yeahhhhhhhh, brioche is in the house! This super class will teach you the basics of one colour and two colour brioche, and will discuss other intermediate brioche techniques that are used by crazy peeps like Stephen West (don’t know him? Then google him). This is an intermediate class and peeps must be comfortable with knitting and purling.

Brooklyn Tweed Sweater Knit Along

Pick A Brooklyn Tweed-worthy sweater pattern, purchase the yarn at STASH, and join Veronica for a fun knit along! This class will review swatching, types of sweater construction, discuss techniques for managing your project, & review finishing techniques such as assembly and blocking. All participants will have a chance to discuss their pattern selection with the group and get ongoing guidance for their project! Knit a parliament of owls and learn the art of cabling at the same time! This single session class will teach you how to knit on circular needles, how to cable in two directions, how to read cable charts, and some fun finishing techniques! Trust us, this class is a hoot (sorry, we had to go there and do that). Oh, and the yarn we uses is so soft that it will Blow. Your. Mind.

Colourwork Crash Course

Whether you want to knit the perfect fair isle sweater for your fur baby or you simply NEED a sweater with a howling wolf on the front in your life, then this is the class for you. This single session class will teach you how to knit with two colours at a time two ways (stranding and intarsia), how to read colourwork charts, how to switch colours, and basic finishing techniques! You will get to knit your very own colourwork sampler which is freaking adorable.

Cuddly CactusCuddly Cactus Class

Learn to knit on double point needless AND make a cactus that you can actually snuggle! Perfect for newer knitters who have recently taken Learn to Knit, this introduction to double point needles will walk you through casting on to double points, joining in the round, and working in the rib stitch in the round! All supplies – yarn, needles, stuffing, teeny tiny terracotta pot, and felt flower fo’ the top – are included in the class.

This class is also the suggested prerequisite for Mini Mittens and Cute Lil’ Socks. Peeps must be good at casting on, knitting, and purling to take this class. Practice up peeps!

We want YOU to learn how to knit socks with all the sock awesomeness and none of the sock stress. This single session class will teach you full sock anatomy, knitting heel flaps, turning the heel (gasp!), picking up gusset stitches, and shaping the toe. You will get to knit your very own MINI-SOCK, which is great for newborns, decorations, and small dogs (awwwyeah! Little dogs wearing socks!).

Peeps must be good at casting on, knitting, purling, and knitting on double point needles to take this class. Practice up peeps!

We want YOU to learn how to knit mittens with all of the mitten awesomeness and none of the mitten misery. This single session class will teach you full mitten anatomy, knitting thumb gussets, holding stitches on waste yarn, shaping the top, and picking up and knitting. You will get to knit your very own MINI-MITTEN, which is great for newborns,  decorations, and teeny snowmen (isn’t life better when picturing teeny snowmen?).

Salish Toque with Sylvia Olsen

Learn Colourwork knitting the West Coast Salish way, made popular by traditional Cowichan sweaters! STASH is proud to host a workshop with designer, Sylvia Olsen, who is visiting the Calgary area for the 2017 Custom Woolen Mills Fibre Arstis Millstay. In this single session workshop, you will learn to make a basic geometric design on a simple west-coast toque. Peeps MUST know how to cast on, knit in the round, and basic Colourwork. Sylvia is a storyteller and a teacher and this special workshop is going to be awesome!

Sock Club

Join our club and be guided through intermediate and advanced sock techniques! Enjoy weekly presentations on socktacular topics such as: toe up socks, afterthought heels, and magic loop techniques – with hands-on demonstrations to boot! The club includes one skein of Madeline Tosh or Ancient Arts sock yarn, a sweet Addi circular needle, and assorted sock-y accessories. Steeking is an awesome shortcut that lets you work in the round and convert it to a flat item by cutting your knitting. Cut your knitting – what the what?! In this two-part class you will learn about the materials, methods, and techniques needed to successfully steek a coffee cup cozy (cause practicing on a fully knit sweater is cray-cray). Peeps MUST be comfortable with knitting on double point needles and knitting with two colours – may we suggest the Cuddly Cactus class and the Colourwork Crash Course to hone those skills?
